What is the STAR program?
The new STAR program began January 1, 2013. It replaced the "Test-Only" and "Gold Shield" certification for smog stations that are qualified to test directed vehicles.
STAR stations are smog check stations that meet higher performance standards established by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Some STAR stations are licensed to perform only tests, while others are licensed to perform both tests and repairs.
Auto Chek Centers will continue to be a Test Only company under the STAR program, assuring our customers of an honest, unbiased test with no unnecessary repairs.
